Leah, the girl who lived in Virginia her whole life, but never had the time or courage to explore the state on her own…until now.
Yep, that’s me. I have lived in Virginia my entire life (40+ years, but a lady never tells her age :). And while I love this great commonwealth, I can’t tell you much about it. I mean, I can tell you what most people know – Virginia was the site of the first permanent English settlement, it offers everything from beaches to the mountains, and we can serve you some of the best gourmet peanuts, country hams and oysters all-day (oh, and we have good wine too).
But if someone were to ask me…”What hiking trails in the Blue Ridge would you recommend?”, “What small towns would you suggest visiting in Northern Virginia?”, “What is your favorite restaurant in the VA southwest?”, or “What vintage shops have you visited in VA Beach?”…I’d struggle to answer these and many other questions.
If you read my About page, you learned that I’m not the most adventurous person. Ironically, I’m a Sagittarius – known for their massive case of wanderlust. The stars must have aligned differently for me because not only am I a bit of a homebody, I also have an atrocious sense of direction. To the point that when my husband says to turn left, I almost always turn right.
But as the wise Alanis Morissette said “Isn’t ironic…”, my hidden itch to explore, has finally shown-up to be scratched.
After working in corporate America for over 20 years, I decided to leave so I could focus more on my family. And when you have more time, you have more time to think:
- My mind began to ‘wander’ about the other things I could do with this new-found freedom
- One of the things I have always loved about Virginia is the beautiful and artistic LOVE signs across the commonwealth
- I started doing research and I found this awesome page about Virginia’s Love signs and where they are located
So what’s next? And what’s in it for you?
For what’s next, I’m embarking on a journey. A journey to discover Virginia by visiting as many of the Love signs that I can. To explore the surrounding areas by putting myself out there and really learning about this amazing state.
And for what’s in it for you, you will have a front row seat into my adventures (and some misadventures :). To learn with me and be inspired to explore new places in Virginia. To be my supporter as I get comfortable with the uncomfortable of traveling across the state.
So are you ready? Let’s learn to love Virginia together ♥️. #LOVEVA
